Farm Poems

F A R M  P O E M  |   by Marian

Water standing everywhere,

every trail impassible. We

need hip waders to

explore the farm

each spring.

Dams! Beavers

are taking over.

Must we kill them? or can we

outwit them

and divert them

to building a moat?

W E T L A N D S  by Amy

Wet

Enough,

Terribly

Lovely

And

Now

Decidedly

Swampy

W E L L  by Ian

Water is a commodity

Everyone must have

Let others have their Perrier

Leave well enough to Ted

F I R E P I T  by Tara

Fading flames lick the cedar down

Into

Red-orange

Embers

Party over,

I smile, and

Think to October

THE BIG PINE     by Jenifer

Towards the dome site

hollow earth begins to

echo underfoot.

Beside the flat rock

infinitely tall and wide, a

grand father ground mother

Presides over the clearing,

inviting children of a certain age

near, and in, and up, to balance like

eagles.

OUTHOUSE    by Ted (who has never used the farm outhouse)

Outside enjoying the fire burn

Under the evening sun

Together with friends I truly enjoy

Helping with tasks and food from the grill

Oldies are great and new stories too

Usually about Rochdale, with JP's point of view

Simon and kids flying the kites

Ever so grateful to have Tara in my life

LILACS by Jocelyne

Lili Marlene was a nice girl,

Ideal farm member.

Lilacs she grew

and a few other flowers,

catnip too.

Snails liked her toes.
